Pre-CNY
written on 8 Feb 2013 @ Friday, February 08, 2013 ✈
Sorry for the lack of updates man. While preparing to launch Montrose Desires CNY collection, it was hell lot of work plus we needed to launch a new website and finding new advertisers, so there were lots of things to be done. But, I promise that I will come back with an update so I decided to do one before CNY since the next few days I will probably be busy, with last minute spring cleaning and what not. Actually I have tonnes to update, like seriously, but if time permits, I will do that in other entries. So anyway, pre-cny of course, is usually preparing to have a brand new year to start in the lunar terms although we have essentially stepped into 2013 for more than a month already. I used to be super English thinking sort of person (if you know what I mean), and somewhat forgetting my roots as a Chinese *ashamed*. After going to places like Beijing, Shanghai & Guilin, I've discovered my roots back and I'm much more intrigued on the Chinese customs etc and hope that it will never, ever, disappear and my kids and grand kids and grand grand kids will continue the flow. This year, opps, I meant next year, if you're talking about fashion, I'm going the modernized Chinese way. Yes, Qipao in modern cut is my answer. I can't wait to show them all!!! Over the first 3 days of the lunar new year, I will be wearing Qipao. By far, this is gonna be the most traditional year ever. Heh. Maybe when I was younger, I would have shunned the Qipao look, but I'm now loving it to bits! Taking cue from some celebrities, I think they look awesome! Classy is Shu Qi Liu Yi Fei, looking stunning Gong Li's red carpet worthy and deep v-line Shu Qi again Nicole Kidman. My CNY 1st day's look is gonna be like this, the cut of the qipao. Katy Perry, her usual full of colours yet so impeccably styled. I have to say Paris Hilton looks good too! Ayumi!! Personally, I think she would look even better with her hair styled like the 50s hairdos. And hey, Song Hye Kyo in The Grandmaster, which by the way, was a movie I had to tolerate for more than 2 hours. 'Nuff said. If you wanna see the 3 different looks I have for CNY, remember to follow me on my instagram here! All 3 days looks will be posted my on instagram :) Little Timmy gets a new year look too! Cute right! Finally he gets something blue. Ok, so fashion aside, 2 days ago I was at Chinatown. Well, I was there not exactly to bask in the new year spirit but I was there to collect some stuffs from the travel agency. Yup, family trip upcoming to Taiwan, 2 days after my birthday! Yay!! Since I was already at Chinatown.... Of course, I had to take pics. :P The cutesy Snake. Like a tourist in my own country. It was raining before that, so we were lucky to avoid the usual crowded Chinatown during CNY period. I was super ecstatic to find this in Chinatown!!!!!! I love the coconut ice-cream in Bangkok's Chatuchak and hey, Singapore has it too! Authentic some more. A Thai selling it. Too bad I had itchy throat, so I asked the boyfriend to eat on my behalf. Exactly the same as the one at Chatuchak! Happy! Bf asked the lady not to put in corn though as he hates corn. And in Chinatown, we transported ourselves to Macau eh. Very happy to see this too coz I'm missing HK & Macau like crazy. But wow, the prices of the products are way overpriced. There was a performance staged too. A short clip I took. Fanciful dressing huh. We discovered a Tin Tin Shop too!! Really like a tourist huh. It's just that I don't normally step foot into Chinatown so all these were new to me. Pretty cool I must say. That ends the Chinatown trip. Yesterday I had the luxury of time to paint my nails. CNY cum Valentine's Day nails. In the name of love. Tonight will be sorta like a reunion dinner with dear's friends. Actually it's to see Jerm's gf who flew down from Chiangmai. I'm wearing a black lace qipao. Remember, CNY don't wear black k, lest you get a bashful from the older folks. Heh. Just in case I don't update in the next few days, here's wishing all of you a very Happy New Year, Gong Hey Fat Choy 恭喜发财!
