Richard Marx Stories To Tell Private Showcase
written on 19 Oct 2012 @ Friday, October 19, 2012 ✈

It was a night of beautiful melodies from Mr. Richard Marx on 15 Oct 2012. I enjoy going to concerts as I'm a huge fan of music and of course, there's some magnetism factor about talented singers as well. I've only been to Mandopop concerts as far as I can remember, so it's refreshing to go to an English one for a change.

I got not 1, but 2 pairs of invites to Richard Marx's private showcase held at St. James Neverland II. Although I couldn't really understand why they choose a Thai disco as the venue, but the awesome factor is that audiences get to have a closeup performance in a smaller area. Special thanks to Herworldplus and NTUC Media for giving me the invites!

So of course, I invited my boyfriend, his sister and my sister to the event. A pity my sis bailed 1 night before the showcase as she might need to work overtime. With 1 more ticket to spare, I tried asking 1 friend but she couldn't make it. I thought of asking bf's mum coz I know she'll like but it means bf's dad don't get to go. Have to play things fair so 1 ticket actually got wasted. :(

Anyway, I have to say, after the showcase, I dig Richard Marx even more!!!!!! Like 10000000000000000 times more. Lol!

He is, seriously very charismatic.

We were lucky to get seats at the bar table. Alot of people had to stand.

Lynette Tan, DJ of Gold 90.5 is the emcee for the night. Alot of Djs were there. Saw Ross, Jean Danker and Glenn Ong.

And here's Richard Marx!!

He sang his hits like Now and Forever, Hazard and of course, Right Here Waiting.

All the songs he played his guitar. Only the final song he sang Right Here Waiting and played the piano.

I like singers that interact with the audience. It's alot more engaging plus he really did have stories to tell!

He explained how the song Now & Forever came about. He was dating his then girlfriend, and now wife. So he thought of a song to write for her.

Isn't he sweet? I would love if somebody actually wrote and sing me a song!!!

Below you'll see photos of 3 young and handsome boys. They're his sons. So talented, each of them. I guess when you have a musician dad, you'll naturally love music too.

He recorded them playing the music and as backup vocalists, and Richard is the main singer. Love his creativity!

He said "Some people carry photos in their wallet. Me, I carry this."

"This" refers to the video he has of his sons.

The best part was when he explained the song Hazard. I might be paraphrasing here but that's the gist of what he said.

On a random day, he wrote about a murder of a girl named Mary. He thought nothing about the song and really just wanted to file the song away. His wife, heard this song he sang and told him, "This song is going to be a hit."

The hilarious part came. He said it made him really excited that for once, he is right. He is told, that he is right. Because, women are always right isn't it? The response he got from the ladies in the house was super! Hahahahhaa! I totally agree! :P

So, he wanted to prove his wife WRONG, and he put it in his album. Then, he can laugh at her and say he has a lousy song in the album.

Guess what, he is WRONG. Hazard, became a #1 hit in 13 countries. So guys, listen to your wives and girlfriends will ya?

Love the acoustic version of Hazard.

I was right there waiting for Right Here Waiting. Yup, that's the finale song.

I was hoping that this gesture means hold on, I have more, but no, it was goodbye!

I really enjoyed myself so much and so did bf and his sis.

So, these couple of days I became highly addicted to his songs. A pity he didn't sing Until I Find You Again, which is my favourite.

I can't pinpoint it, but this mv at 1.52s captured my soul.

This image. When he sang "....burn for you...."

I'm like an infatuated school girl. Omg. I actually think he looks quite handsome when he was young.

Let's try to imagine him without his 'lion' hair. Teehee! I always get giggly when I see photos of the past like 80s.

Perhaps when my kids grow up in the future, they are gonna laugh at my photos.

Ah, this is better. I think he looks like Robert Pattinson on this album cover.

Older, but still charismatic.

Thanks for coming Richard Marx, hope to see you soon!
